Preschool Adventure
Preschool Adventure ($0.99, App Store) is a fun and educational app for toddlers and preschoolers. It is divided into six different activities:
- Colors (Ocean creatures)
- Numbers (Animal connect-the-dots)
- Shapes (Moonscape, space)
- Body (Monkey body parts)
- Matching (Animal matching)
- Sounds (Farm animal sounds)
This is one of the first apps I bought for my son. I was looking for something educational and fun that he could play with from time to time to help teach him about electronics (iGuy Jr?) and to help pass the time while in waiting rooms, on the train, etc. After seeing his response to the app, I feel very comfortable giving it a solid recommendation! I first showed it to my son when he was about 16 months old, and he immediately took to it. Imagine my surprise when, seemingly out of nowhere, he said “Blue whale!” one day! He had quickly learned all the animal names and colors shown in the app, and in just a few months was able to turn my iPhone on, slide the springboard to the page with this app, launch the app, do all of the activities (the Sounds and Colors activities are his favorite) and turn off the iPhone when he finished. All of this months before his second birthday! I guess you could say he really likes it.
I purchased this app back when the App Store was first opened; back then, there were only four activities. In the months that followed, the developers added both the “Matching” and the “Numbers” activity, free of charge. Back when the app was launched with only the original four activities, I would’ve called this a ‘must buy’ for anyone with small children - even more so now that there’s 50% more to it! Priced at just $0.99, I’d say this is one you don’t want to pass by. The developers (3DAL, LLC) have also released several other fun/educational apps, two of which I will be reviewing soon.
